Drop It Like It’s Hot (Pink): Reviewing Snoop Dogg’s 19 Crimes Cali Rosé
If there is one thing that screams “Busch League Sommelier,” it’s buying a bottle of wine strictly because Snoop Dogg’s face is on it.

I was scanning the grocery store aisle looking for something to drink on the patio, and there he was, staring at me from a frosted bottle of pink wine. Did I check the vintage? No. Did I care about the terroir? Absolutely not. I saw Snoop, I saw the $15 price tag, and I grabbed it.
Celebrity wines are notoriously hit-or-miss, but 19 Crimes usually puts out a highly drinkable bottle. So, does Snoop’s Cali Rosé live up to the hype, or is it just good marketing? Let’s get into it.
The Specs (What exactly are we drinking?)
- The Blend: A California mix of Zinfandel, Syrah, and Grenache.
- The Damage: Super wallet-friendly at around $12–$15.
- The ABV: 10.5%. This is officially “patio-pounder” territory. It’s light enough that you can enjoy a couple of glasses in the sun without needing an accidental 3:00 PM nap.
The Taste Test
Wine snobs often turn their noses up at sweeter rosés, insisting everything needs to be bone-dry. Ignore them. This is a genuinely fun, fruit-forward wine.
Right out of the gate, you get hit with fresh strawberry, raspberry, and red cherry, backed up by some delicate floral aromas. It’s medium-bodied, perfectly crisp, and has just enough sweetness to balance it out without tasting like alcoholic fruit punch. It basically tastes like summer in a glass.
The Busch League Pairing
The traditional wine guides (and the back of the bottle) will tell you to pair this with “salads, seafood, or light appetizers.”
Yawn.
While they aren’t wrong, we are Busch League Somms. The sweet, fruity notes and crisp chill of this rosé are absolutely begging for something salty and a little spicy. Skip the garden salad and pair this with spicy shrimp tacos from your favorite local food truck or a massive bowl of heavily buttered movie theater popcorn. The salt and fat will make the strawberry notes in the wine sing.
The Verdict
Is it a highly complex, 99-point masterpiece you need to age in a cellar? No. Is it a delicious, crowd-pleasing, slightly sweet rosé that you should absolutely bring to your next pool party or BBQ? 100% yes.
For 15 bucks, Snoop delivers.
